Aptly, one of the highlights of the sale was a superb French-made 1935 Delage D8-105S streamlined coupé, which sold for €322,000 to a telephone bidder. Extremely rare as the sole survivor of its type, it had been fully restored and shown at the renowned Concorso D’Eleganza Ville D’Este. Another important French car, a 1905 Darracq Flying Fifteen rear-entrance tonneau, sold for €178,250. The evening also saw healthy prices paid for a 1966 AC Shelby Cobra '427' Roadster, at €471,400; while several Bentleys also fared well: a 1929 Bentley 6½/8-litre tourer sold for €615,250; an Art Deco-inspired Petersen Bentley 6½-litre 'Dartmoor' coupé, €385,250; and a Petersen Bentley 6½-litre R-Type supercharged road racer, €310,500. Meanwhile a 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Pininfarina coupé, which came from long-term ownership and a well-respected European collector, realized €241,500; a 1957 Facel Vega FV4 coupé, one of 36 produced, €155,250; and a 1946 Delahaye 135M cabriolet, €161,000. James Knight, Group Head of Bonhams Motoring Department, commented after the auction: “We are very pleased with the sale, and I thought the drive-through of the motor cars was a welcome spectacle. It was well attended, and the bidding was often fierce, not only from the floor but also from the balcony overlooking the auditorium where the café and lounge were situated. In particular, we are thrilled to have achieved such an excellent result for the Aston Martin DB4GT.” Online: www.bonhams.com/cars # # # ADDITIONAL IMAGE OF NOTE
