Baccarat chandelier a sure winner at Dallas Auction Gallery

Image courtesy Dallas Auction Gallery.DALLAS - A Baccarat Louis XV-style chandelier befitting an oil baron's mansion will be a star attraction at Dallas Auction Gallery's sale on Wednesday, May 13. From the late 19th or early 20th century, the crystal and dore bronze chandelier is 40 inches high and 40 inches in diameter and has 28 lights. Four putti adorn the twisted rope frame. Bidding is expected to top $25,000-$45,000. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding.

Dating to the mid-1800s, a Chippendale-style mahogany breakfront bookcase is estimated to bring $10,999-$25,000. It measures 110 inches wide by 106 1/2 inches high and 19 inches deep.

An oil painting titled A Good Story by Margaret Dovaston (British, 1884-1955) is typical of her work, largely interior genre scenes. This fine example measured 20 by 27 inches. It has a $12,000-$18,000 estimate.
