Among artworks being offered are 18th and 19th century paintings from a Glen Rock, N.J., estate. Included is a large size oil by Sir John Watson Gordon (English, 1788-1864) titled The Empty Purse, which depicts a street urchin in tattered clothing. A record of this painting was found to have been offered at public auction of Old Master works at Chickering Hall, New York in 1900 (est. $3,000-$5,000). Heading up the silver in the sale is a 78-piece International flatware service in the Wild Rose pattern (est. $1,800-$2,200). Assorted jewelry to be offered includes fine jewelry as well as a single-owner collection of designer pieces by Rebecca Collins, Stephen Dweck, M&J Savitt and Amy Kahn. Fine formal furniture will also be offered. Highlights include a Philip & Kelvin Laverne coffee table in bronze and pewter (est. $2,000-$3,000) and a Karges mahogany armoire (est. $3,000-$5,000). Decorative arts in the sale include a Tiffany Studios leaded glass and bronze lamp (est. $8,000-$12,000) and a Tiffany Studios acorn shade and bronze oil lamp (est. $8,000-$12,000). The auction is scheduled for Thursday, March 8, at 5 p.m. Eastern. It will be held at the Knights of Columbus Banquet Hall at 79 Pascack Road, Washington Township (Bergen County), N.J.
