Richter abstract leads fine art in William Jenack's July 19 sale PDF Print E-mail

CHESTER, N.Y. - An abstract painting by Hans Richter and a watercolor by Everett Shin are expected to among the top attractions of William J. Jenack Auctioneers' sale July 19. LiveAuctioneers.com will provide Internet live bidding for the auction, which will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern.

Richter (German, 1888-1976) inscribed the back of the black and white abstract composition "to Frank Adler for his 60th glorious birthday, May 22, 1959." Framed, the oil on canvas is 28 by 13 inches. It has a $4,000-$5,000 estimate.

Shinn (New York, 1876-1953) depicted a European village in his 11 1/2- by 9-inch watercolor, which is glazed and framed. It carries a $2,000-$4,000 estimate.

A 1930s pastel painting by Louis Leon Dolice (American, 1892-1960) pictures a New York street with a skyscraper in the background. Measuring 10 3/4 by 6 3/4 inches, the painting is estimated at $700-$1,000.

Two seashell art pictures on board signed by Italian artist Enrico Baj (1924-2003) are both 22 by 28 inches and will sell as one lot, estimated at $3,000-$5,000.

In addition to fine art the sale will also offer antique Persian rugs, antique furniture, art glass, porcelains, lighting, jewelry and decorative accessories.

The auction will be conducted at William J. Jenack Auctioneers' facility at 62 Kings Highway Bypass in Chester, N.Y., 55 minutes north of New York City. For details call 845-469-9095.
